pre-christmas

These pictures look like they're from Christmas morning don't they?  Well, we're making up our own family traditions here as we go along and why wait til Christmas to open presents?

We actually really tried to reign ourselves in with the gifts for our boys and I think we succeeded in keeping things modest.  But our friends and family could not be restrained and we knew M. and E. had a lot of fun presents in their immediate future.  So we decided to give the boys our gifts Christmas Eve morning, and then bring out all the other stuff on Christmas Day just to spread the fun out.

Our big gift to M. and E. was some new train tracks and stations as well as a pile of new Thomas trains.  They set up their tracks every day and we knew this would be a gift they would get a lot of fun out of.  If your kids like Thomas, you know that you could buy them a new train every day and they would never have them all!  When they came downstairs all bleary eyed they were stunned to see the new railway set up in the living room with their new trains ready to puff out of the station.  M. kept saying;  "Did you guys bought all these presents?" and "You bought presents while I slept?" It was almost impossible to get photos because the boys were way too busy playing to look up for a picture.

I painted T. a t-shirt that says "Sorry I'm Late" which friends will appreciate.  And we gave T. a waffle maker he's been wanting....and I am loving eating all the waffles he makes for us.  T. gave me a drawing tablet so you'll be subject to my drawing experiments here on the blog.  After our present opening and waffle eating we had to tear the boys away from their new trains to go out for a winter stroll and hot chocolate in the junction.

Stay tuned for more photos of our Christmas Eve festivities and feasting with family.
